Lazio Deserved More, Says Simone Inzaghi After Defeat Against Juventus

Lazio head coach Simone Inzaghi has insisted his side deserved a better result following a 3-1 defeat against Juventus in the Serie A on Saturday.

Inzaghi has admitted his men were hurt due to the defeat in the hands of Andrea Pirlo’s men and also rued missed chances.

Lazio had a dream start in Turin when Argentina forward Joaquin Correa put them ahead in the opening 14 minutes but could not protect their lead into halftime as Adrien Rabiot leveled matters on 39 minutes.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic had the chance to re-establish the visitors’ lead before halftime but his header bounced off the crossbar.

Spain international Alvaro Morata scored twice in the second half to put the game beyond Inzaghi’s men.

In an interview with DAZN after the game, Inzaghi, who looked disappointed, insisted his side must do better in such games.

“It’s difficult to comment on a 3-1 result after that game, but evidently what we do isn’t enough and we have to do more,” Inzaghi told DAZN.

“This defeat hurts, as we were 1-0 up, doing very well, hit the bar when it was 1-1, then conceded a counter-attack in the Juventus Stadium from our own move.

“We deserved far more, I think we controlled much of the game, but we need to do more. We mustn’t give up, we have to keep believing in what we do and start to get players back, because there’s a long way to go.

Next up for Inzaghi and Lazio is a home game against Crotone in the Serie A on Friday.
